Our story
Ripple Suicide Prevention began with one sister’s determination to prevent others from enduring the devastating loss that changed her life. Today, we are two organisations protecting close to two million people around the globe and united by the same vision:
an online world that promotes hope, not harm.
Why Ripple was started
Alice Hendy lost her only sibling, her brother Josh, to suicide. Josh was 21.
In the days that followed, Alice went through his phone, trying to understand what had led him there. What she found were search history that showed just how easy it had been for him to access harmful content online: content that had encouraged his decision and pushed him to a point of no return.
For Alice and her family, the loss was devastating. The kind of pain that stays.
Alongside that grief came a realisation … in the moments when Josh was searching, there was nothing in his path to guide him towards help. Nothing to step in and connect him to support.
Alice made it her mission to change that. To make sure that when someone searches in a moment of crisis, they will be given hope and guided to mental health support.

Our mission
Ripple Suicide Prevention and Ripple For Business work together as part of a wider effort to create safer online spaces. We bring communities together, challenge the status quo, and work with policymakers and industry leaders to strengthen protection against online harm.

Safe online; together.
We prevent suicide by equipping families, educators and charities with our life-saving technology. We promote hope, challenge mental health stigma and advocate for online safety.

Protecting workplaces, people & futures.
We prevent suicide by equipping businesses and public-sector organisations with enterprise-grade digital crisis intervention. We work towards creating safer digital spaces and raising mental health standards in organisations.

Every day, people turn to the Internet when at their lowest, searching for answers.
Too often, what they find makes things worse. Harmful content is easy to access, readily available and, for someone experiencing mental health crisis, it can deepen the pain and despair.
What began as one person's response to an unbearable loss now reaches people across the world.
Ripple technology identifies search terms related to self-harm and suicide, and intercepts them with a message of hope. It then guides people towards free mental health support, while keeping their privacy.

The journey continues with you
The journey to online safety and hope requires ongoing effort.
We know that people turn to their screens in moments of deep distress. When they do, they deserve to find hope, not harm, and a clear direction towards help.
That’s why we continue. For the people searching at their lowest. For the families, colleagues and communities who don’t want to lose the people they care about. For a future where online safety is the standard.
If that matters to you, join our journey today.
