What we do

Bringing online safety and hope to everyone

Every day, people in crisis search the Internet for ways to self-harm or take their own life. Too often, those searches lead to content that encourages them to act.

Ripple BrowserShield intercepts harmful online searches and guides people to free mental health support.

Our story

Why Ripple was started

Ripple Suicide Prevention was founded by Alice Hendy MBE after losing her brother, Josh, aged 21, to suicide. She discovered he been searching online for ways to take his own life.

Ripple BrowserShield was developed to protect others from online harm. It’s a browser extension that directs someone searching for dangerous content to support instead.

Josh is, and always will be, the inspiration behind everything we do. His legacy drives us forward, to reach more people and ensure that no one is left alone in their darkest hours.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Free digital crisis intervention

Ripple BrowserShield is free for educators, charities, parents and individuals worldwide. This is only possible because of the generosity of people and organisations supporting our work.

We are grateful for every contribution that helps us protect more lives.

FOR EDUCATORS

Safeguard your students

Students and staff are experiencing record levels of distress and mental health challenges. Traditional online safety tools block harmful content but miss the opportunity to intervene with support.

Ripple BrowserShield closes that gap.

It identifies dangerous searches and intervenes at the critical moment, guiding young people to messages of hope and 24/7 mental health support.

Free for the education sector, it deploys across managed devices in minutes.

Children are increasingly exposed to harmful content online, often when you least expect it.

Ripple BrowserShield adds an essential layer of protection. It identifies online searches related to self-harm, suicide, and mental health struggles, and guides young people to safe and supportive resources.

But this risk isn’t just for children.

From teenagers to adults, people often turn to the Internet in their most vulnerable moments.

AWARENESS AND ADVOCACY

We promote hope

We do so by starting open conversations about mental health and suicide, and by advocating for stronger online safety standards.

When people feel safe to speak up, they reach help sooner, and those around them learn to recognise signs of crisis and respond.

Media & Campaigns

No one should feel ashamed of asking for help.

We therefore deliver campaigns and share real stories to help communities start conversations, challenge stigma and build understanding.

Ambassadors & Advisors

Our ambassadors and advisory board members share their experiences of mental health and suicide, inspiring open discussion and driving a proactive approach to prevention across communities.

Free resources

Have the knowledge and confidence to support a colleague, student or someone you care about.

Our free downloadable resources for individuals, educators and organisations include mental health awareness guides, suicide prevention information and practical guidance on talking safely about suicide.

We’re building a culture where reaching out for support is seen as an act of strength. Every person who speaks up makes it easier for the next.

Advocating for online safety

We believe technology should protect people.

We work with policymakers, regulators and industry leaders, advocating for effective legislation, responsible tech design and ethical standards to ensure that digital spaces protect life.

Through our charity and technology, we’re leading the way in using innovation to identify, prevent and respond to online harm.

Partnerships & Research

We work with people and organisations sharing our commitment to online safety and suicide prevention. Together, we create networks of protection that no single organisation can achieve alone.

We collaborate with academics, data scientists and mental health experts to evaluate outcomes, share insights and advance suicide prevention research across digital environments.
